Emotions were running high saying goodbye to family and friends on Thursday night and Friday. How did the time already come?? I am so excited to be starting this amazing journey and overwhelmed with the love and support from my family and friends.
As if the tears and saying goodbyes was not enough-- lets just say Friday afternoon at the airport started out with a bang when I was told my 2 suitcases were overweight and I would have to pay an extra $200. Typical me, over packing…whoops. Anyways, we made it safe through security and were headed for LA. We got off our flight in LA and headed to Terminal B to catch our last flight to Auckland. It was just our luck that Terminal B was at the total opposite end of the airport. I kid you not; I swear we walked 5 miles to get there. But, that home stretch to Terminal B wasn’t so bad once we saw the shopping center in the international terminal.
Shortly after, we boarded our plane to Auckland. I was in absolute awe walking onto the plane… It was HUGE!!! Believe it or not that 13-hour flight went by fairly quickly. I definitely caught up on some much needed sleep, enough that I even missed dinner when the flight attendants came around. Clearly flying all day exhausted me. It was quite the adventure so far. As soon as I saw “1 hour until arrival” go across the tv in front of me, I started to become very anxious and just wanted to be there. After 18 hours of flying all day, I was ready to get off the airplane.
I MADE IT!!!! I am so excited too see what these next 8 weeks bring me. It will definitely an adventure I will remember forever. I am ready to get back teaching the little ones and explore everything Auckland has to offer. But, for now…it’s time for me to get used to the time change.
