Worth Every Cent

This weekend was incredible!! Time is going by way to fast. Friday night we decided to check out the movie theater to relax from the busy week. Popcorn for dinner it was! Their movie theater popcorn is nothing compared to ours at home. They don’t have warm butter that they put on the popcorn; it’s like a salted butter. It tasted fine, but nothing compared to home. The movie theater was huge! It was three stories and had an arcade.

On Saturday, we took the ferry to Rangitoto Island to hike. I was super excited because everyone was talking about how amazing the view from the top of the volcano is. But, the unpredictable Auckland weather was against us and it rained the WHOLE TIME!!! Not just sprinkling either, I was soaking wet by the end of the trip. Half way through the hike we ended up taking the cave path. Let me tell you, caves are not my thing. I screamed the whole time. I was so scared. It was tiny and dark inside and worst of all, there were spiders. I DID IT THOUGH! Checking that off the list and never need to do it again. Despite the rain, we made the most of our time and definitely got in a lot of laughs!!! We ended up going to a Mexican restaurant for dinner, which was delicious—44 NZ dollars for soup, chips & guac, and a drink. Whoops! It was totally worth it though! It’s not your typical Mexican restaurant like in the states where they bring out chips and salsa; you pay if you want them! Look at the pictures below of how tiny the chips bowls are too--$13 for those alone! Oh well though because it was totally worth it and food is too good to ever pass up! The waiter ended up being from the states too (Minnesota), so we ended up having a really fun time!

Can you say holy spur of the moment??? Friday night, once we got home from the movie we ended up buying tickets to see Jason Derulo on Sunday night. We were all lying in bed and saw that he was in New Zealand and I am obsessed with him, so of course I commented obnoxiously on his post. We shortly found out that the reason he was in NZ was because he was playing Downtown Auckland! We immediately started looking at tickets and found floor seats for pretty cheap and could not pass it up! As you can imagine, all night Friday, all day Saturday hiking and up until the concert Sunday, we were singing to Jason Derulo nonstop! People on the hiking trails and on the train probably thought we were crazies. No shame. It was beautiful out on Sunday, so we decided to spend the afternoon downtown before the concert. We went down to the water to grab some drinks and little did we know that our Wisconsin ID’s do us no good here. We had no problem any other night, but of course the one-day we were super pumped, we had problems. People actually felt bad for us when the waitress’ and waiters were telling us that they couldn't accept our ID's. So, naturally we headed back to the Mexican restaurant where we made friends with the waiter from the night before and we were able to have some fun before we headed over to the concert. Jason Derulo was worth every single cent we spent. It was amazing, we were so so close and we had a blast singing and dancing all night!!!!

This weekend was another weekend filled with endless memories. We have been having so much fun hanging out and exploring New Zealand. I am so so excited for next weekend because my parents are coming!!!!!!!!! And it’s my birthday!!! But, really I have been looking forward to seeing them since I got here. I miss all my family and friends so much!! So, hello to everyone back at home--- I love and miss you all lots! Sending lots of hugs your way!!
